Welcome to the Spring 2022 edition of the HLG Newsletter! There’s a great range of content for this issue of the newsletter below – please click on the title to read the full article.
2022 is a landmark year for us as we celebrate 75 years of the Health Libraries Group. On the 14 October 1947, 33 health librarians met together for the first time to discuss common interests and issues around their roles. This group would quickly begin to grow and form the basis of the special interest group we recognise today as HLG. We hope to run lots of activities over the year to celebrate our anniversary year and are currently planning a hybrid conference event that will take place in London and online on Friday 14 October 2022. We would love as many of you as possible to join us for this occasion so please save the date and we will update you with more news of the event soon.
This issue of the newsletter features a fantastic top 10 tips for writing, an insightful article on setting up place-based Library and Knowledge Services in Surrey, and memories from a patients’ library. We also feature a bursary opportunity to attend the CILIP Conference, a poster competition to celebrate HLG 75 and a poster design session to share top tips and take you through the practical process of creating a conference poster.
We hope you enjoy the new format of the newsletter and welcome feedback, along with submissions for the Summer 2022 publication. Huge thanks to all our contributing authors.
