HLG Nursing Bulletin Vol 32 (1)

Welcome to the first edition of the Libraries for Nursing Bulletin for 2012. As usual we have a variety of articles for you in this issue. In our first article Jason Curtis from Shrewsbury Health Library reports on a successful project which uses web 2.0 technology to provide a current awareness service in an NHS setting.

While many readers of the LfN Bulletin will be familiar with providing information for health professionals, either in training or in practice, providing a health information service for patients may not be something which we are immediately familiar with. Sarah Thompson’s article outlines the preliminary considerations which should be investigated if such a service is being introduced.

As training budgets are squeezed across the sector, it can be useful to read reports from events which others have attended. Bethan Carter’s reflections from an ‘Advanced search skills for systematic reviews, health technology assessment and guideline development’ workshop offer an insight into the event and provide some resources and reading to follow up for anyone with an interest in this area.

LfN is offering two bursaries for the Health Libraries Group conference which takes place in Glasgow in July. The closing date is 13th April 2012 and full details of eligibility and the application process can be found on our website: www.librariesfornursing.org.uk

Many thanks to everyone who has renewed their LfN subscription for 2012. If you have not yet renewed this will be your last Bulletin. A renewal form can be found on our website: www.librariesfornursing.org.uk

Our next Bulletin will be published in the summer and we welcome articles for inclusion. Please contact the editors for more information.
