Jane Shelly, Secretary, UHMLG
The UHMLG (University Health and Medical Librarians Group) are currently planning our 2025 events:
- Spring Forum – 27/28 March (online via Zoom from lunchtime to lunchtime pm/am)
- Summer Conference – 12/13 June at the Hive, Worcester (In-person, 2-days from lunchtime to lunchtime with overnight accommodation included)
The overarching theme for these events is ‘Partnership Working’. We aim to include a diverse range of speakers from the health and higher education sectors. If you have experience in partnership work or projects involving multiple partners, organizations, or teams – we would value your input.
How you can get involved:
- Share your experiences: Have you been involved in partnership work or projects and would like to speak about them?
- Suggest speakers: Do you know someone or have heard a speaker who would be good for our proposed events?
- Types of sessions: We are looking for main speaker sessions (30-45 minutes) and ‘Lightning Talks’ (5-10 minutes). Lightning Talks can be helpful for anyone new to conference speaking and looking to share their work and ideas.
Potential topics around partnerships/liaison/project work might include:
- Collaboration with professional / organisational services (estates/IT etc)
- Academic/faculty outreach
- Partnerships with NHS colleagues/partners
- Working with publishers
- Teaching with students
- Co-design of services/space or UX projects
- Paid work partnerships e.g. research support, systematic review services
- Working with both external and internal users on projects
- Costing services/applying for grants
We particularly welcome talks aimed at the health library sector (NHS/HE) from information professionals, but are open to contributions from other sectors and professionals, including academics, researchers and other library settings.
Thank you for suggestions we’ve already received but there, we would welcome further ideas and for you to get involved in our events.
Notes:
- Speakers at the Summer conference will have their conference ticket and travel expenses covered (including one night’s accommodation).
- The final selection of speakers and the program will be at the discretion of the UHMLG committee.
- Please do get in touch with your ideas, suggestions, or if you wish to discuss further.
