HLG Newsletter – Autumn/Winter 2023

Welcome to the Health Libraries Group Newsletter for Autumn/Winter 2023.

As we are almost at the end of 2023, there has been much to reflect upon over the last year. This issue features reflections from the CILIP conference, exciting projects from HLG members, and updates from all over the health library sphere. We also look to 2024 for events and conferences, many of which have bursaries available.

We would also like to introduce the new editorial team:

Co-Editor: Alice Cleaver, Assistant Librarian – NELFT NHS Foundation Trust

Co-Editor: Celestina Lau, Assistant Librarian – Outreach, Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust

Assistant Editor: Stephen Reid, Knowledge Specialist – NELFT NHS Foundation Trust

The team would like to thank Rachel Gledhill, the HLG Newsletter’s outgoing editor, for all the valuable contributions thus far, and the knowledge passed on to the new team. They hope they can live up to her work!

Speaking of new beginnings, we bid a fond farewell to the Nursing Bulletin after nearly eight incredible years and 39 memorable issues. However, this isn’t a goodbye, but a “see you later.” In the next year’s first issue, the HLG Newsletter will proudly introduce a fresh nursing section. If you have articles that once found a home in the Nursing Bulletin, please share them with us at newsletter.hlg@cilip.org.uk.

We’re thrilled to share this edition of the HLG Newsletter with you and extend our warmest gratitude to all our contributing authors. There’s a great range of content for this issue of the newsletter – to read an article in full, just click on the title.

Internet Sites of Interest

Bedbugs

Bedbugs are in the UK news, having first made an appearance in Paris. They might be less topical by the time you read this, so I thought about broadening the column out to health impacts of insects more generally. But then I thought that would make the topic too big.   So, after a few sites about insects in general, there are some specifically about bedbugs.
