Gina Velli, Library Manager, Princess Alexandra Hospital Library & Knowledge Centre (Brisbane, Australia)
Greetings all and merry Christmas!
When I wrote this article about Integrated Search Interfaces (ISI) in systematic reviews, I sensed that major shifts were coming.
Many ISI vendors have now embedded RAG-based AI research assistants that can synthesise ISI results into concise summaries; meanwhile in IT, “vibe coders” are now building software simply by giving conversational instructions to AI. Similarly, when informationists better understand the strengths and limitations of ISI, they can also more effectively “vibe” with scholarly literature.
I’m still waiting for stronger interoperability between ISI and external software ecosystems – maybe Santa will deliver that part!
Meet Gina!
